Lemon Cake:
- 1 lemon cake mix
- 1½ teaspoons lemon zest
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
Filling: - 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon lemon extract
- 1 cup butter, melted
- 16 ounces powdered sugar
Directions:
For the Cake:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a medium bowl, mix together the lemon cake mix, lemon zest, egg, and melted butter until it forms a smooth batter.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan and pat the cake batter evenly into the bottom of the pan.
For the Filling: - In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese until it’s smooth.
- Add the eggs, lemon extract, and melted butter to the cream cheese, and beat until everything is well combined.
- Gradually mix in the powdered sugar until it’s thoroughly incorporated.
- Spread the filling evenly over the cake batter in the pan.
Baking: - Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the edges are golden brown and the center remains slightly gooey.
